Nic Bourgeois (Montreal / Magdalen Islands) is a transdisciplinary artist-researcher. Their practice explores the physicality of listening through experimental composition and performance. Assertive, tangible, and visceral, their works embrace a certain vulnerability. By building their own digital musical instruments, they forge new musical gestures that engage the body in sonic exploration. From these emerges a dialogue with sensing technologies, where the boundaries between the self, the other, and space become porous. Pursuing a master’s research in composition and sound creation at the University of Montreal, they have presented their work in various artistic and academic contexts, both in Quebec (Canada) and abroad (MUTEK, EISODE, Centre d’art Jacques-et-Michel-Auger, Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology, Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras, AdMare, Centre Culturel Georges-Vanier, Sporobole).
